Merry Christmas 2020

Merry Christmas! Put this together in Magmastudio.io with Ian ho, Tore Wesolowski, Victor Yang, and Marc Ross Michaud when we met up online to catch up. We got invaluable feedback from Jon Dufresne and Chris Yao along the way.

It's been a while, here's some updates.

So last year I wanted to make better use of this blog and post more often, even if was rough stuff but that didn't happen.
I'll be joining FZD as a instructor this Thursday, August 1. Won't be taking any freelance work for a while, but in the long run I should be able to post work or maybe other stuff from time to time.

For the people reading this post is there anything you'd like to see me post or talk about?

As you can tell from my gallery I like showing rough sketches from my design process since I feel it's valuable, as part of the design process, to other artists and students. But when it comes to sketches that I do in my free time for fun or practice, I always do them without the intention of ever showing them. By taking that pressure off myself I can enjoy sketching regularly and trying out stuff without worrying about the need for stuff to look good. If something comes out good I can always decide to post it later.

Production Concept w/ Jan Urschel - Week 4

Final week of the course. I'll probably find some time to polish the best shots before adding them to my artstation gallery/portfolio. If anyone's interested in a mentorship with Jan he'll be running another one for this course coming 7 January.

Production Concept w/ Jan Urschel - Week 2

Learning more stuff and getting awesome feedback from Jan Urschel on Learnsquared.

Bonus: Best feedback

Production Concept w/ Jan Urschel - Week 1

Learning to work more efficient and design better with Jan Urschel. Sketches and additional 3D shots from the first week. Got lots of changes I want to make to the shapes, forms and to better show the setting of a flooded world. Probably going to look more stormy and dystopian by the end of it.

CGtrader digital art competition

Decided to participate in the CGTrader Digital Art Competition using my recent stuff.

CGMA - Research Facility Mana Tank Room

This week's CGMA piece, the Mana tank/battery charging area for the research facility in the canyon. Probably will revisit the exterior to add some features to make it more like an ancient research facility rather than just some old fortress/temple like building.

More CGMA stuff

"Sketches" from the past 2 weeks of my CGMA course, definitely have some design changes to make.

Hello World

I went radio silent and haven't posted any art for a while so I thought I'd start making use of this blog to post studies, sketches, WIP and other incomplete stuff from time to time.

I started the CGMA course Variable Concept Art Techniques with Ken Fairclough a few week back. Here's some design sketches from my project, some done over a 3D base. By the time these get posted on my Artstation gallery I'd probably have done some updates to the designs.
